30 NOVEMBER 2024: EVENTS OF INTEREST
Our kindred organisation, Families and Friends of the First AIF will be holding two significant events on 30 November, at the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park, Sydney.
Both are important events for FFFAIF, and you are welcome to attend if you are interested in the talks being presented.

First Event:
Annual General Meeting of Families and Friends of the First AIF, followed by a lecture “Souvenirs and Archives Telling the Story of the 1934 Visit of Prince Henry, The Duke of Gloucester” for the official commemoration of the Anzac Memorial. The lecture will be presented by Jim Munro, President, FFFAIF.
10.15 am: Arrival and Registration. A Refreshments table be operating.
10:30 am to 11:45 am: Annual General Meeting of FFFAIF. Zoomed live to FFFAIF members unable to attend, via this link:

11:45 am to 12:30 pm: “Souvenirs and Archives Telling the Story of the 1934 Visit of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester.”: Talk by Jim Munro.

12.30 to 1.30 pm: AGM Lunch break: sandwiches and refreshments provided for AGM attendees.

Second Event:
1:15 pm: Public arrive and register for the John Laffin Memorial Lecture series.
Raffle tickets, ‘Rembrella’ umbrellas, and Oxford Archaeology and other book sales. Copies of ‘Fromelles: Naming the Dead’ by Professor Margaret Cox & others will be on sale.
There are many copies of rare early ‘Digger’ journals that have recently been donated to the RUSI Library, and other WW1 books which will be brought into the auditorium for sale.
An eftpos machine will be available.

1.30 pm to 2.30 pm: Lecture 1: “The End Of Peace, The Path To War And Early Moves In The War In 1914”, the 2024 John Laffin Memorial Lecture, presented by Jim Munro, President, FFFAIF.
2.30 pm to 2:45 pm: Tea and coffee break.
2:45 pm to 3:30 pm: Lecture 2: “The Home Front in a Small Town in The Great War”, presented by Graeme Hosken, Secretary, FFFAIF.

3.30 pm to 4:00 pm: Show and Tell (where attendees can reveal items of significance from World War 1), and Close of events.
4.00 to 4.30 pm: Pack-up and depart.

Catering
A refreshment station will operate on the day.
