Alfred George Sinigear was 19 when he was killed in action at the Battle of Fromelles, his family and friends posted loving tributes to him accross the years as a way to remember him, these are some of those poems published.
Somewhere in France there's a sacred spot,
'Tis a grave just newly made.
And it's sheltering our boy from perils and ills,
With which life's battle is played.
He has finished his part; we must still keep on,
Trying, like him, to be brave.
Our sacrifice is in what we have lost,
His war in what he gave.

In the bloom of his life God claimed him,
In the pride of his manhood days,
None knew him but to love him,
None speak his name but in praise

Not now, but in the coming years,
It may be in the better land,
We'll read the meaning of our tears,
And then sometime we’ll understand.

His happy ways and cheery smile
Are pleasant to recall,
He had a kindly word for each,
And died beloved by all.

Oh, though oft depressed and lonely
All our fears are laid aside;
If we but remember only
Such as these have lived and died.
