The Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, located in France, is a key site for the commemoration of Australian soldiers who died during World War I. The Australian servicemen named on this memorial died on the battlefields of the Somme 1916-18 A total of 43 Fromelles Australian soldiers are commemorated here due in part to having being allocated a death date of the 21st July 1916 or after, outside of the Battles official commemoration period, so there names where not placed at VC Corner with others from their battalions killed at Fromelles. Subsequently, some of these men have been identified at Pheasant Wood Cemetery. There are currently 10,729 Australian servicemen officially commemorated by this memorial.
